Each year approximately 30,000 people living with cancer and their families visit Flinders to receive treatment and see their clinicians for appointments.
While patients have treatment and appointments in Flinders’ Cancer Clinic, on the floors directly above them there is a team of researchers working in research laboratories tackling cancer from every angle. They’re already making headway and have made some incredible breakthroughs. But there’s still so much more to be done.

The Karen Fitzgerald Lunch Club is an annual event presented by The Karen Fitzgerald Fund in honour of Karen Fitzgerald, the inaugural director of the Flinders Medical Centre Child Protection Service, The guest Speaker is Julian Burnside AO QC. Mr Burnside is an Australian barrister who practices principally in commercial litigation, trade practices and administrative law. In recent years Julian has become one of Australia’s leading advocates in relation to Australia’s treatment of asylum seekers and the protection of human rights and is also an accomplished author.
