Flinders Overseas Health Group

The Flinders Overseas Health Group is a group of voluntary health professionals - including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, allied health workers and laboratory scientists - who provide health assistance and education in the Eastern Indonesian province of Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), which includes West Timor.

People in this region live in poverty, suffer from malnutrition, have limited access to education and an under-resourced health system.

Flinders Overseas Health Group (FOHG) members are dedicated to helping the under-resourced hospitals and health system in the area and providing professional development and training for local specialists.

Donations to the group support the delivery of maternal and neonatal courses to remote and rural regions, as well as education and training of local health hospital staff in: accident and emergency, oncology, dermatology, infectious diseases, paediatrics, clinical pathology, histopathology and microbiology, obstetrics and pharmacy. The group also helps Indonesian medical, nursing and allied health staff visit hospitals in Adelaide for training and experience.

The Flinders Overseas Health Group is governed by a voluntary management committee. Flinders Foundation is an incorporated association that works in partnership with Flinders Overseas Health Group by managing all donations received to support the mission of FOHG.
